The UNFPA Regional Office for Arab States (ASRO), based in Cairo, is looking for a motivated Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Intern. This is a prestigious opportunity to work within the United Nations system, supporting strategic plans that aim to end preventable maternal deaths and gender-based violence across the region.
Role Overview
Under the supervision of the Resource Mobilization and Partnership Adviser, the intern will support the branch team in identifying funding trends, engaging with donors (like the EU, World Bank, and IsDB), and coordinating humanitarian project proposals.
Key Responsibilities
- Research & Intelligence: Conducting analysis on donor priorities, funding landscapes, and aid environments.
- Donor Engagement: Preparing briefs for traditional and emerging donors, including the private sector and UN inter-agency programmes.
- Proposal Development: Drafting concept notes and project proposals (ECHO, Japan Supplementary budget, etc.) to support Country Offices.
- Reporting & Coordination: Reviewing humanitarian project reports and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Event Support: Assisting in organizing workshops, webinars, and administrative tasks for regional partners.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Academic Status: Must be currently enrolled in a Postgraduate degree, the final year of a Bachelor’s degree, or a recent graduate (within one year of graduation).
- Experience: Some experience with development agencies or volunteering is a plus.
- Skills: Strong analytical and writing skills with fluency in English.
- Personal Attributes: Initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work in a multicultural setting.
Financial Aspects
While the internship is not salaried, UNFPA provides a stipend to help cover basic daily expenses (if not supported by another institution). Interns must also have their own medical insurance.
